....Will more than likely challange for a championship. It is a known fact that most teams that slug have a better chance of winning than a base hitting type of team. As depicted in the movie Money Ball, speed and stolen bases are way over rated; this also includes other small ball tactis such as bunting and hit and runs. The World Champion St. Louis Cardinals were last and stolen bases and tops in slugging percentage last year. They hit extra base hits 35-45% of the time when they got a hit.
If you research most travel, high school, or college championship teams they can do the same. As a team hitting specialist, my goal is to get teams to reach this milestone by showing them a special (unknown) technique that get hitters to hit the ball harder while keeping their swings under control.
When players start to think they can drive the balls in the gaps, instead of just thinking about making contact with this technique, things start to change very quickly.
Winning teams usually score 6-8 runs per game on average, and close games they win are usually won on a homerun or base clearing double or triple. this type of hitting gives teams a burst of energy and confidence and can cause a team to steamroll through their opponents. Small ball will win games, but at a very low percentage of the time. Good hitting teams know that small ball tactics takes at bats and outs away from their hitters.
