League Management has been added to SportsLeeg.com

Now League Managers are starting to get some attention over at www.SportsLeeg.com. Now a League Manager can create their team roster in a few simple steps. After filling in a few basic details about their league, managers can then define all of the districts in their league, and then create all of their teams by simply providing a name.

Once the teams have been established, League Managers can manage each team's specific… Continue

A 2-Workout kind of day

Greetings,

This morning started off with me doing a 20 minute kettlebell routine, thinking that it would make me feel fine enough for the day. The workout ended up being this:

Tabata interval style, 20s work right arm, 10s rest, 20s work left arm, 10s rest x 20 times.

Used a 35# kettlebell, and did 5 clean & presses on each arm, per minute. Made for 200 reps total for the workout.

I went to Mass, then went to a pizza place for their lunch buffet. Felt… Continue

What 3 Days of Snow Will Do

Greetings,

Well, I hope you had a great Christmas holiday. Mine was spent being stuck inside for most of it. I went over on Christmas Eve to my parents for dinner, and to open up gifts. We couldn't get out of town for Midnight Mass due to the storm that hit, and Friday wasn't any better. This storm was so big, I'm sure you've heard about it on the national news. It didn't really slow down until Saturday afternoon. Close to 18 inches and 24 inches fell in some areas in our… Continue

Tabata's in 3's

Greetings,

It looks like we are on the brink of a major winter storm heading our way up here in ND, stretching through SD & MN as well as other states south of there. The flurries are just beginning their onset in the past few hours as I type this out. After work today, which was a day of painting a locker room's floor at the school, I think I had too many paint fumes. Wasn't feeling up for a run after work, so I took a nap, getting some cleaner air inside me. After the nap, I decided… Continue

In Pursuit of Strength

Greetings,

I had a really great strength workout this afternoon, hitting a new 5 rep maximum personal best in the bench press. I took it a bit easier on the deadlifts due to a sore back & legs from snow shoveling a lot yesterday. I took care of my own home in about 10-15 minutes, but spent about an hour doing the removal for my place of work, the school. We are a small school, our campus is only about 2 blocks in length, but with wide sidewalks and other entry/exit points around… Continue

More Weight Loss Rantings

Greetings,

Lately I just got asked a question on a Q&A site that I volunteer for, and for some reason, I feel I get more stupid questions than good ones. Or should I say instead, more ill-informed questions.

Most of these are in relation to weight loss and more specifically, getting 'cut', in terms of looking like a model or a bodybuilder's physique. This goes the same for men or women, and more disturbingly for me, with young teenagers who are athletes and seek fat… Continue

More Express Lane Workouts

Greetings,

In my running article over on http://asapworkouts.com, "Express Lane: 10 Miles or Less", (found here: http://asapworkouts.com/express.pdf ) I talk about how you can get in quality workouts with 10 miles or less per week.

Today's treadmill run was a snapshot of that style of workout, something brief, concise, to the point.

Here's how it… Continue

More KB Cardio, and Another "Big 1"

More KB Cardio & Another "Big 1"

Greetings,

Today's workout was a steady stream of Kettlebell Clean & Presses, alternating sides in a typical Tabata circuit style of 20s work, 10s rest, for a full 20 minutes today.

I usually do 10-15 minutes, but wanted to test the waters of pushing it to 20 minutes today under this work/rest format.

I used my 40# kettlebell and stuck with it the whole way, getting 5 reps per 20s period. I'd switch & hold it in… Continue

More Treadmill Madness, 800's style

Greetings,

Today I had a treadmill run planned, where I'd do 3, 60 second intervals at 10mph (1/2 mile total at 6 min/mile pace) and 5, 30 second intervals at 12mph (5 min/mile pace).

Electricity was my only limitation in doing this workout, however.

I first started the workout by jogging for a 1/2 mile in under 4 minutes at 7.5mph.

I then cranked it to 10.1mph and busted out a 1/2 mile for just under 3 minutes.

I felt that I better go another 1/2 mile… Continue
