I used to have really low self-esteem when I was in highschool and college. I was gaining weight steadily and I felt like eveyone around me hated me. It all started with three girls in 8th grade that came up to me and told me straight out that they didn't want me to spend time with them anymore. I was devastated because this was a new school for me since I had moved to a new city. I used to be so popular in my other school and now everything was going downhill. I asked my parents to allow me to… Continue

Mike Bruce lived a real-life horror story as a child. He was looked down upon and labeled as "The Human Pipe-Cleaner" in school. Mike was bullied and ridiculed on a regular basis. The hazing didn't stop there because, waiting for him at home, was the real boogeyman -- his stepfather. This man hated Mike so bad that he would beat and starve him when his mother wasn't home.
After one of Mike's many beatings, the boogeyman made the mistake of forgetting about… Continue

I figured that the best thing I could do was to disconnect myself from the process. However, as I found out, the process needs me. This is exhausting.....
How can I continue to talk to the wall while watching blank faces? How about all the looks of disdain?
I am not even going to mention the hierarchy of superiors......for what? Out of sight, out of mind - that seems to be the motto!

Exercise Physiologist working for the military.
Countless days of counseling and writing training plans for the unwilling.
Training plans that are put together through a careful selection....but are forgotten somewhere between a gym bag and the laundry basket.
Unwillingness has a new meaning to me.
When did "training" become punishment?

Just testing this out to see if it would work for posting training logs. I find it very interesting to read and learn from how others train themselves as well as their clients.

I´ve posted our "good start" over the last weeks. We have a team, have a Coaching Staff, have parents who support their children playing football like no group of parents I met in Germany do.
BUT... we did not have a practice field.
Now, the situation changed...
NOW the new chairman of our club told me yesterday, that the club will not have enough money to have a youth team competing in a league. But if now the youth players (age 14-19) will quit their… Continue

...to introduce myself. I enjoy coaching youth sports. I live in a small town in northeastern Kentucky, where the bluegrass kisses the Ohio! I'm a third generation attorney, graduate of the University of Louisville and went to Kentucky Wesleyan College for undergrad. I'm a divorced father of two beautiful kids.
In 1999, I helped set up our local Little League program and have coached in it every year since then, including the past four years at the all-star tournament level. We've… Continue

Last Thursday we had our very first contact drills.
We had a 90 minute period in a little gym. First we checked the equipment, helped fitting it.
After the warm up part we had a 30 minute period where we taught blocking. The next 30 minutes, we taught ball carrying and tackling.
This video will not be very spectacular for Americans, but with a bunch of 14-17year old kids, who NEVER EVER played football in their life (only a few have a slight understanding of the… Continue
